Laser puncture of children suffering by night enuresis

Night enuresis is incontinence of urine during sleep. Primary night enuresis (failure to supervise the functions of the bladder in bed) affects 30% of children aged 4 years, 10% aged 6 years, 3% aged 12 years and 1% aged 18 years. It occurs more in boys, often family driven and is associated with sleep disorders.

Enuresis in some patients represents only a delayed maturation process of urination, which is decided by time and the growth of the child. In some cases, manifests as a symptom of spinal injury, worms invasion, urinary tract infections, childhood diabetes and others. In most cases, however, the case of idiopathic (of uncertain cause) a breach of the processes of excitation and retention in brain cortex subcortex and hence somatic and vegetative inervation of bladder and his automatic reactions.

Wet night (night enuresis) is affection, known since ancient times. However, the disease is a medical problem unresolved to this day, which severely traumatize children suffering from disease, and not a few patients in adolescents and in adults.

In everyday practice, those suffering from this disease treated by many specialists - pediatrics, neurologists, physiotherapist, psychiatrists not achieve definitive results from drug therapy.

In accordance with the rules of traditional Chinese medicine night enuresis is considered as a "deficiency of chi-energy in the kidneys and the weakness of bladder control function. This exhibition is to show positive results from the laser puncture to treat children suffering from night enuresis. This method is easily applicable in children, because it eliminates the fear of pricking, vegetative effects accompanying some acupuncture procedures and gives reliable results.

Are treated 10 children between 5 and 10 years with idiopathic night enuresis (in which have not and somatic disease and congenital malformations of urinal tracts, causing a co-symptom enuresis). Of these patients, 8 were boys and 2 girls. In most of them night enuresis occurs almost every night, and applicable drug therapy have partial effect.

Treatment was with helium-neon laser with a wavelength of 632,8 nm radiate in the visible spectrum in a continuous mode by combined application acupuncture points of the body chanels and ear points. Were conducted 10 sessions of each child (3 times a week), having met the necessary safety equipment required for working with laser radiation.

Treatment was implemented in less than 3 symmetrical body points and 1-2 points on the ear, are treated as first body points , then ear points (with a duration of up to 15 seconds in body points, 5 seconds in ear points) and total duration sessions of 2-3 minutes. During treatment patients did not drink much of fluid in the late afternoon and evening hours.

Treatment has been applied puncture in following chanel points:
- Bladder chanel -V62 shan-may, V57 chan-shan, V28 pan -guano- shu,, V23 shan-shu, V 67chzha-in
- Kidney chanel (restorative method): (restorative chanel point) R 7 fu-lyu, R 3 tai-si
- Forward middle chanel: J3 chzhun-tszi (alarm point of the bladder chanel), J4 guan-yuan, J6-ci-high (restorative method)
-Backward middle chanel: T4 min-man
-General points: E36 tszu-san-li, V20 fan-cha, V10-tien chzhu, T20 bay -huey, RP 6 san-in- tszyao
-Ear points - kidney point, bladder point, sympaticus point, marrow point, subcortex point and others.

In 3 children was applied a second course of laser puncture 2 months after the first course, as the effects of initial treatment was insufficient expressed.

The results of treatment are encouraging, but with incomplete solution to the problem. Notes are indicative dilution of enuresis (at 70 percent of treated children has problem 1-2 times a week, having mean that until now applied drug therapy was not led to similar effect. In the follow-up after 3 months it is found that in 3 of the children resumed more frequent enuresis, but up to 3 times a week and they are given a second course laser therapy with the above parameters. In 2 of the treated children in the 3 months period of monitoring were found only occasional night releases that the background of the previous frequency of the problem followed by relatives as a significant result. Into account also is improvement of psycho-emotional state of most children showing symptoms of a general atonic and asthenic reactions of Central nervous system and Vegetative nervous system.

Described results are reported only short (3 month) follow-up period, which may not lead to definitive conclusions about the effects of laser puncture for complete cure of the disease so difficult as enuresis. Healing mechanisms of action is probably due to improvement of common processes in the body of patients, regulation of the energy imbalance of the affected chanels and associated organs and systems by effect on acupuncture points, the influence of harmony between Yin and Yang energy of the authorities concerned and the body as a whole.

In literature in detail are described biophysical biochemical effects of laser therapy – improvement of energy processes and microcirculation of the tissues, increasing cell metabolism and others. Laser puncture probably combines effects of laser radiation with a direct impact on biologically active points, leading to influence energy balance and restore energy flow in the body. Property of all living organisms is to acquire and cumulated and exchange different types of radiant energy including laser.

The advantages of this method to conclude in indolence, safety, ease of application, a minimum time of impact, lack of side effects and complications of traditional acupuncture, which makes it especially applicable in children. The lack of definitive results for a complete cure should not lead to denigration of laser therapy as a healing factor, as Holistic approach teaches us to see disease as a process rather than a problem that has just found beginning and end. Improvement of mental and emotional symptoms in most children suffering from disease is also an important factor for healing them as a whole, excluding the purely physical suffering and inconveniences arising from it.
